Mystic Festival 2025: Four American legends join festival program

This is America! W.A.S.P., Suicidal Tendencies, Jerry Cantrell and Pentagram are coming to Gdańsk in June – four excellent reasons to be with us then at the Shipyard.

W.A.S.P.
“I Wanna Be Somebody,” sang Blackie Lawless on the single promoting W.A.S.P.’s debut album, released exactly 40 years ago. His wish came true immediately, seeing how he is the leader of a band which, on the one hand, defined an era, and on the other, has always forged its own path. W.A.S.P. were too shocking to stay within the parameters set forth by shock rock, too heavy to uphold the glam rock standard, and too eager to take up artistic challenges to keep to the confines of the mainstream. They were the wild child of the 1980s metal boom, today enjoying classic status, yet they can still can… ehm… play like a beast.

Suicidal Tendencies
It’s hard to believe but they are still cyco punk after all these years! Others call it crossover, after all there is something in it of hardcore, and thrash, and punk, and funk… why list all these genres though when the band’s own name will do the trick. From their jolt of energy debut Join the Army, through the revolt of Lights… Camera… Revolution!, to the equally accomplished recent releases – Suicidal Tendencies have yet to let us down. Their line-up has always been filled with the best musicians (once among their ranks were Robert Trujillo, Dave Lombardo, and Thundercat, among others, now – Ben Weinman and Jay Weinberg, to name two) and the front of the stage has invariably been torn apart by Mike Muir, one of the most charismatic frontmen of all time.

Jerry Cantrell
One of the most important guitarists of contemporary America, but also a singer in whose voice rings out only truth. He was one of the people who defined the grunge sound, even though he plays heavy metal and has never betrayed blues. He is the founder and leader of Alice in Chains, played in Ozzy Osbourne’s band and has had a successful solo recording and performing career. His fourth solo record, I Want Blood, recorded with Robert Trujillo, Duff McKagan and Greg Puciato, among others, has recently been released. We promised legends – here’s a legend incarnate.

Pentagram
The living legends of American heavy metal, pioneers of doom metal, and the high priests of the Almighty Riff Temple. From their first singles, released far back in the 70s, through their triumphant comeback in the 90s, to their latest album, scheduled for release in January, Lightning in a Bottle – the band led by the restless Bobby Liebling does not bow down to trends and maintains a steadfast faith in metal of the purest form.
